Our 95th podcast episode found us chatting with the Asbury Park, NJ punk/melodic hardcore band, FREE THE WITNESS, in our Asbury Park Vibes Studio! Band members Jake Bedel-Franklin (Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar) and Chris Reith (Lead Guitar, Vocals) talked about their newly released album, Deliverance, which is a melodic/punk/hardcore masterpiece based upon the Dante’s Inferno (the first part of Italian writer Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem Divine Comedy.) The rich harmonies, layered guitars, and subtle keys amidst the backing of demon-like methodical drumming make this  concept album an absolute "must listen!"

Tune in to hear all about the band’s dedication and drive to make their presence known. They are a force to be reckoned with and a band that is most definitely on the rise!!

Born from an existential argument between the modernists and postmodernists, I have found my home with the post-punks and those who love a good slice of pizza. I live in a world of art in the age of mechanical reproduction and the ever-elusive decisive moment. Punctum and Stadium aside, I like to take photographs of people and things to see how they look photographed. While I miss CBGBs, I think Asbury Park is as close as we are ever going to get to making punk whatever we make it to be. The future is unwritten and I owe it all to Mr. Bradley and Mr. Martin. Let us now praise famous men and ask the little prince for his thoughts. Sometimes I'm on the road, but If it wasn’t for the honor of the thing, I’d rather walk. My loving wife supports this albatross of an obsession and my kids put up with me well. BA, MFA, M.Ed., BCEA, Tri-X, and Nikon.

I’m a concert fanatic who snuck cameras into venues and festivals for years before taking the plunge into pit photography. Musicians fascinate me, as does the creative process. So, I combined my love of photography, writing, and learning to create Asbury Park Vibes … a venture offering a unique blend of photography, journalism, podcasting, and live events for artist promotion. Our name is a nod to the vibrant music scene in Asbury Park, NJ – the best example of the way music helps shape culture and community!
