YOUR MUSICAL PAST AND PRESENT IN ONE RUN-ON SENTENCE.

Grew up performing in musical theater and on Broadway, studied musical theater in college at UCLA. Created rock alter ego "Madysin Hatter". Began writing and releasing music as Madysin Hatter about ten years ago. Had been releasing music and playing live shows on both coasts (including Whisky A Go Go in LA). Stepped away to start a family. Just released first original song in a couple years-- "Wild & Strange!" 

SORRY, BUT WE HAVE TO ASK … WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BAND NAME?

I love Alice in Wonderland and was always intrigued by the Mad Hatter. When I went to an Aerosmith concert (obsessed!) and Steven Tyler borrowed my hat for a song and then placed on my head, the name kind of came together and I went with it.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND TO SOMEONE WHO HASN’T YET HEARD YOUR MUSIC?

rock 'n' roll, heavy on the glitter

A PROJECT YOU’RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THAT YOU’RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT.

Next release in late May. The song is called "Treasure"-- it's a big ballad with teeth. It features Mulekick (Frank Ferrer, Rob Bailey, Brett Bass, Rob Clores).

HOW DO YOU FLESH OUT A SONG FROM START (IDEA IN YOUR HEAD) TO FINISH (RECORDING)?

Depends on the song!

WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS THE BEST SONG YOU EVER RELEASED, AND WHY?

I'm most excited about the one I just released yesterday, "Wild & Strange". It's been a couple years since I released a song, and I've learned a lot. It was great to step back into it and I love all the lyrical play that I was able to include in the song.

Here's my current video for "Wild & Strange." And another unreleased music video for "Treasure" is on the way end of May.

The biggest adrenaline rush while also being in a slow motion bubble with electricity surrounding it.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE YOUR FANS GET FROM YOUR MUSIC? IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE THEM TO KNOW?

Music is fuel, I hope "Wild & Strange" gives them an energy burst and a fearless spirit.

MOST DON’T ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BELIEVE THAT WHAT THEY REALLY WANT ... CAN ACTUALLY HAPPEN. CLOSE YOUR EYES AND VISUALIZE WHAT YOU CONSIDER TO BE YOUR ULTIMATE SUCCESS. WHAT DO YOU SEE? 

I'd love to write some songs for big rock artists, including Halestorm, I'd love to continue releasing my own music while balancing being a stay at home mom-- and I'd love to help normalize that notion.

WHAT ARE YOU DETERMINED TO SEE HAPPEN IN THE NEXT YEAR?

As a solo artist, I'm planning on releasing a few more singles in the next year, then circling back to re-release as an EP with a couple more surprises.

My very first rock concert-- Aerosmith at the Tweeter Center in NJ 2002.

There are so many amazing songs coming from local talent-- it's important to support them and help get their music heard. I used to have a music column in "Steppin Out Magazine" that did just that (I ended my column just after having my son, had too much on my plate at the time).
