THE BASICS

YOUR MUSICAL PAST AND PRESENT IN ONE RUN-ON SENTENCE.

We have our roots in different kind of genres and bands but as a band we started out as a party band playing hard rock covers. We soon felt that this we needed more. We started to rewrite and rearrange songs to much heavier and personal versions of the songs and the further away from the original they came the better we liked them. So we started to write songs from scratch and that’s when it happened. We found ourselves and our sound. It was such a powerful moment! Now we are trying to make music that really touches people!

SORRY, BUT WE HAVE TO ASK … WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BAND NAME?

Pressure is what our music is all about. We do music about the pressures around us. Everybody is facing and struggling with different kind of pressures. So that’s the source of our music. The pressures around us and how they impact our lives! So the name was really not that difficult for us to find out.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND TO SOMEONE WHO HASN’T YET HEARD YOUR MUSIC?

We do play Story Metal, a subgenre of Heavy Metal that tells different but true stories about life. We use the power of classic Heavy Metal mixed with a lot of different genres to express this. Our sound is a mix and many of our songs sounds different from each other as in Story Metal you strive to find the mood of the thing you need to tell your audience about.

HOW DID THE STARS ALIGN TO BRING YOU ALL TOGETHER?

Well, Emil actually was Simons guitar student, and he dragged Emil along to a couple of shows before they formed the band back in 2008. After playing shows all over Sweden they started looking for a lead singer to perform and develop their new sound and style with. We held auditions and Olof was the man for the job!

MUSIC

A PROJECT YOU’RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THAT YOU’RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT.

This must be our new and upcoming album “Path Of A Shadow”. A great album with songs both in Swedish and English. We are very proud of the songs on this album! And we have been working on these songs for a long time so we are excited to finally be able to release it. It will hit all streaming platforms in late April or beginning of May!

HOW DOES THE BAND FLESH OUT A SONG FROM START (IDEA IN YOUR HEAD) TO FINISH (RECORDING)?

It's usually Simon who does the first draft of the songs. He collects stories and emotions and then put these into a song. He writes them really fast as there is something in him that needs to come out. He records the whole thing actually. Drums, bass, guitars, vocals and so on. Then he shows the draft for the band and if everybody like it we move on. Olof takes over, doing some changes for the lyrics, vocals and harmonies and adjusts the key of the song to his voice. Then the draft goes back to me, Simon, again and we do this a couple of times before the song is even recorded for real by the whole band. During the process we all take part in finding the right mood for the song and changing a lot. After we have a working recording, we send it out to our producer for feedback.

PICK ONE WORD THAT BEST DESCRIBES WHAT YOUR REHEARSALS ARE LIKE. [YOU CAN ELABORATE IF YOU’D LIKE!]

Energetic!

We always practice live shows so we put a lot of energy into our rehearsals. We do say that if you aren’t completely exhausted (as you would be after a show) after rehearsal, than you have not rehearsed enough!

INFLUENCES

GUITAR SOLO THAT ALWAYS GIVES YOU GOOSEBUMPS?

I love the guitar solo on Queens We Are The Champions. Its such a great mood, perfect timing and the handling of the instrument is so masterful! I always wonder what was in his head when he recorded that solo because I would like to know so I could experience the same thing!

PERFORMING

DO YOU HAVE ANY PRE-SHOW RITUALS?

We all have different routines when performing. I usually want to be alone just right before the set to gather my thoughts and focus on the show. I have always done that. I know that there is a lot of bands and musicians that wants to really pump up some energy and being like a little football team but I want to be in my own little bubble to find the energy to channel for the show.

FUNNIEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED WHILE YOU WERE ON STAGE.

It has been a lot of funny things. Both before, under and after a show. A fun memory after a show was when we were playing a wedding gig. We got to sleep in the newlywed’s guestroom in their garage after the show. Everything was nice and good. The happy couple were down there talking to us. We were quite tired after a log show, but it was nice to sit down and just relax for a bit. Suddenly the bride was very tired as well and the strong and happy groom carried her upstairs. We thought that now we could sleep, but after 15 minutes the groom returned to us, saying that well he had all his life to be with his wife but how often does he have a rockband in the guestroom!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE YOUR FANS GET FROM YOUR MUSIC? IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE THEM TO KNOW?

We want our audience to use our music as tools to handle their life and be able to get their stories told. We want our music to be mirroring the different situations, emotions and events that we sing about. We want our audience and fans to be able to relate to both the mood in the songs and to the lyrics and to all the energy and soul we pour into the performance. Its important for us to connect with our audience so we always do our songs a bit different. Every show and every recording is different so we never play the same solo or rhythmic part exactly the same. So we also want our audience to get a unique version of the songs that they came for.

GOALS

BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN.

To always learn, stay humble and keep practicing. You can never truly master an instrument. You can be really good at it but you will always have things to develop and to work through. Learn from others, play together and always trust your heart. I know that these advices that I have got is a great thing to live by! Another good advice is Don’t talk the talk if you cannot walk the walk. Don’t pretend to want a thing if you aint ready to put in the work to get there.

IF WE WERE TO LOOK AT YOUR “GO-TO” PLAYLIST RIGHT NOW, WHO ARE SOME OF THE ARTISTS WE’D SEE?

I love to discover new music and I also love the classics. Right now I listen to the Swedish band Sabaton as I am lso listening to Eric Clapton and in between. I constantly change my playlist!

VINYL RECORDS, CASSETTES, CD’s, OR DOWNLOADS?

Everything that sounds good! I do think that streaming is perhaps the best way now. Because introducing the streaming services has been like a revolution for people to listen to music that they remember and to discover new music. I understand the frustration that some artists feel that streamings services doesn’t pay that much but I feel that streaming services are really good for you actually. You get to be heard by people that you wouldn’t have reached if they weren’t around.

WHAT SONG IS AMAZING, YET NOT VERY POPULAR?

"Let it Rain" by Gotthard is a really fantastic song. Not played so much, but it is really great. Give it a listen!

WHAT’S YOUR BENCHMARK FOR A GREAT MUSICIAN?

A great musician is someone who could connect with his or hers instrument and make music of anything. You could play an instrument, everybody can learn how to play an instrument but to make soulburning intense music with it. That’s something else You need to know how to make that connection. If you tap into that source you can make music that reflects anything and really make an impact
