“To live in hearts, we leave behind is not to die” this is such a fitting quote to honor the amazing life and journey of Clarence Clemons, because the amount of hearts and lives the big man has touched will allow him to live on forever. It's been almost ten years since the death of Clarence and it’s amazing to see him alive and well in the memories and support of countless friends, family, and fans. It's another true testament to the power of music and density of blood.

On Friday January 10 the eve of his birthday and the official New Jersey Governor mandated Clarence Clemons Day familiar faces in our scene gathered at Headliners in Neptune to celebrate the life of the Big Man. The lineup included Jersey Shore alum Bob Polding, legend Eddie Testa, Clarence’s son and his band Jarod Clemons and The Late Nights, and the incredibly talented Jake Clemons. Each band had their turn playing full sets of original music and lots of fan favorites. Jake Clemons with his full band treated fans to lots of new tracks off his recently released sophomore album “Eyes on The Horizon”.

A special moment of the night came at the beginning of Jake Clemons’s set. He was joined on stage by Jarod Clemons for a special tribute to their uncle, and father, collaborating on a stripped-down acoustic version of the 1985 hit song “You’re a Friend of Mine” cementing the huge family dynamic that lives in this music. Moments like these really show how the Springsteen devoted have shown a great love and respect for the next generation of musicians. A great human kindness that cements the music and scene will continue on.
