Last Saturday, Virgina Beach band Turnover mesmerized fans during a sold out show at Asbury Lanes. These dream pop rocker’s have released four albums, two EPs, and multiple singles. Their second record Peripheral Vision is arguably one of the most well known indie records of the mid-2010s; and is, in my opinion, one of the best albums of all time.

For me, this was a special show to witness and photograph for the first time. Turnover was particularly the first band that got me into the alternative indie, shoegaze genre. I remember the first time in high school I listened to one of their songs; my friends and I were driving around town aimlessly and I fell in love. Turnover has been on repeat ever since.

I was blown away when I finally experienced them live. All of those memories came rushing back. They delivered such a sonically pleasing show… and it was matched by over 700 fans that sang along to their music. But great music was only one half of what made their extraordinary performance that night. I experienced one of the best light shows I have ever seen that night. There were a certain set of visuals that added a whole new dimension to each song. It was beautiful.

This was a night to remember for everyone. About an hour into the set, I witnessed two newlyweds who came straight from their wedding to experience their favorite band live. Frontman, Austin Getz, gave a special shoutout to them before the final song. What an intimate moment! Turnover does it right.
