On a stormy summer night in Asbury Park, the true believers gathered at the Stone Pony Summer Stage for The Bouncing Souls’ annual Stoked for Summer. This year’s stacked lineup included Joyce Manor, Hot Water Music, Yellowman, and Save Face.
Those who braved the early rain were treated to New Jersey’s own Save Face to kick off the show. Lead singer Tyler Povanda’s energy was infectious and set the tone for the evening. They were followed by Jamaican reggae legend Yellowman who’s set included a cover of "Get Me to the Church on Time". Next up was Hot Water Music. Fronted by Chuck Ragan, they gave the crowd a loud and raucous punk rock set that would rival what was to come from The Bouncing Souls later that evening. Then it was Joyce Manor’s turn. The California punk band re-ignited the crowd as the first surfers of the night were launched towards the stage.
As the skies opened up again, The Bouncing Souls kicked things off with Shark Attack which turned the hometown crowd into a frenzy. They ripped through a 29 song set which included favorites like "Private Radio," "Hopeless Romantic," "That Song," "That Something Special," "Kids and Heroes," "Manthem," and "Gone." For the encore, Greg Attonito performed an acoustic rendition of "Ghosts on the Boardwalk." He was then joined by Yellowman for a cover of Toots & The Maytals’ "In the Dark." The rest of the Souls returned to the stage with Hot Water Music to close out an amazing night of punk rock with "True Believers."

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos.
