The power and spirit of classic rock and roll is alive and well in Asbury Park and especially so when Hollis Brown and company came into town to perform their tribute to the classic Rolling Stones record Aftermath. The band has been touring behind this recent show all over, and their return to the Asbury area was highly anticipated. Thankfully it was well worth the wait and they delivered a consistently engaging and high-energy set that managed to pay homage while maintaining Hollis Brown’s distinct flair and energy.
Frontman Mike Montali was in strong form throughout and his backing band truly rose to the occasion with their signature blend of musicianship along with an organic yet exquisitely crafted sense of chemistry. The band seamlessly integrated their own original material between choice material and deep cuts from Aftermath and each arrangement brought something distinct to the table while still very much honoring the spirt and energy of the original album. Hollis Brown’s overall performance delivered lots of high-octane rock and roll energy and an engaging tribute to a truly iconic record while also showcasing what a fresh, vibrant and dynamic talent they are as an original band as well.
As an act, Hollis Brown have proven they have what it takes to pay homage to their classic rock roots while also maintaining momentum as an upcoming act. With recurring visits to Asbury and more tour dates lined up throughout, this is an act you most certainly won’t want to miss!
