The Ones You Forgot Premiere New Single “Something For Me”

Brick, NJ pop-rockers The Ones You Forgot released their latest single “Something For Me” on July 22nd. The single is the first new music the band has released since performing at the 2019 Vans Warped Tour. It is also the follow up to their sophomore EP Too Afraid To Say which came out in 2018.
Clocking in at just under 4 minutes, “Something For Me” is filled to the brim with with the transcendent synths, biting punk guitar tones, and upbeat drumming you’d want to hear from a sunshine-and-rainbows pop punk tune in 2020. However, the lyrics deal with a subject that isn’t best described by “sunshine-and-rainbows.”
People have been writing love letters for years, but vocalist Jenna Bruno poses a certain type of love letter that too often goes unwritten; the one we address to ourselves. “Something For Me” is a song that deals with wanting to be loved for who we are, and not for who other people want us to be. It puts out the message that people shouldn’t settle for less because they think their current situation is the best they can do. “Something For Me” insists that we are all deserving of happiness and love, and celebrates the act of doing what’s best for oneself.
“Something For Me” is currently available on all streaming platforms. A lyric video by Stephanie O’Byrne was posted to the band’s YouTube channel, and a new t-shirt for the single has been added to their merch store. All proceeds from the shirt will be donated to Color of Change.
