April 19, 2020 (Asbury Park NJ) -  On the heels of their well-received Spotify playlist by the same name, Telegraph Hill Records is going a step further to bring the “live” back to music amid the COVD-19 restrictions. On Thursday, April 23rd at 8pm, they invite us to view a stream of hand-selected live performances they have collected from their favorite shows in Asbury Park. It will be shown live on their Facebook page, complete with a host in a telethon style--and will not be posted in its entirety again. The goal is to raise awareness and funds for the Asbury Park Music Foundation (APMF) and the message is clear; be there live or be square.

The Virtual Benefit Concert Lineup is a well-timed gift for how starved fans and scene “newbies” that opens with sets from the December 2018 two-day annual blowout “What A Wonderful Year” at The Wonder Bar. Powerhouse Pamela Flores performs first with her band followed by Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band. After that, Telegraph takes us out of The Wonder Bar and over to the Asbury Lanes, where we will see a mix of covers and originals from The Foes of Fern and stellar closing spectacular from Des & the Swagmatics as recorded at the Beatles Abbey Road Anniversary Show last fall.

You may recognize the “Crowd Noise” host Brian Erickson from his popular talk show, OneMore with Brian Erickson, spotlighting the local music community, broadcast live every Monday from APMF’s performance space. Asbury Park Foundation is dedicated to keeping the town's music legacy alive and they have been feeling the musicians’ pains as they navigate this standstill. The Foundation provides under-served youth with life-changing music education programs in collaboration with partners such as Lakehouse Music Academy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. It also helps the local music scene thrive with a variety of community events, including the Music Mondays series at Springwood Park, Asbury Park LIVE! shows on the AP Boardwalk, and Sunday Sessions. APMF will be on the front lines of helping music, artists and venues recover post-COVID-19. They strive to maintain the community-wide, inclusive, and collaborative effort that makes Asbury Park a premier music destination.

Despite having a set roster of musicians firmly on their indie label and a plethora of studio recordings dating back to 2008, Telegraph Hill Records is known for supporting the entire scene outside of the studio walls. Through musical and charitable collaborations with many bands and special all-inclusive, events like “What a Wonderful Year” and “Crowd Noise,” they serve as ambassadors for the entire town. Co-founders Joe Pomarico and Matt Fernicola can be seen in the crowd as often as they are in stage and they rarely perform or attend a show without arranging to capture it in photos or video. With the quarantine darkening stages, they are now thrust into the role of unofficial historians for the current local music scene and recognize their obligation to keep it alive. “Whether you are a loyal fan who never misses a show or a music lover who simply wishes they got out more before that option was taken away, you’re going to find hope in reliving these shows.” Fernicola explains, “the strength of these performances and energy of the crowd will make it clear to anyone in doubt that we aren’t going to let this beat us. Asbury Park’s musicians and fans will be back, more united and stronger than ever.”

Following the event, select songs will be available for streaming on Crowd Noise, a new playlist from Telegraph Hill Records featuring live concert recordings from Asbury Park.
