No matter what dismal weather has recently beleaguered your area, hang in there. Shinedown is ready to begin their 2021 Fall tour in the Northeast hitting the cities Washington, DC; Newark, New Jersey; and Philadelphia, PA ... wholeheartedly ready to pick up right where they left off when the world came to a screeching halt in 2020.

Just a few short weeks ago, I saw the band at Musikfest, an American music festival that has been held annually since 1984 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Shinedown was in top form, as usual, giving fans an exceptional rock and roll show filled with passion, energy, kindness, and brilliant musicality. They played many of their standard hits like “Second Chance,” “Unity,” "I’ll Follow You” (and more), while also pumping out the four #1 Billboard hits from their most recent album ATTENTION ATTENTION: “Devil,” “Get Up,” “Monsters,” and “Attention Attention.” Their sixth body of work is a concept album, depicting an individual overcoming negativity and depression to then be reborn as a stronger, more determined individual.

During Musikfest, I caught up with Cherry Hill, NJ fan Stephen Kelly (who is also a friend I met at one of the many Shinedown shows we've both attended), and he summed up the crowd’s feelings perfectly. “Shinedown gave us fans all we could handle after 18+ months off the road. That’s Shinedown. They leave every ounce of energy and sweat out there for us to take in, and make us all feel as one.”

He continued, “Shinedown is more than the four men on stage, and their music. It’s the entire cast and crew behind the scenes that bring the show to the stage. It’s the fans from all walks of life, out there collectively as one showing that we are truly all the same. It’s Rock the way it should be. Exhilarating, Energized, Meaningful, and For All.”

Shinedown has sold more than 10 million records worldwide, and in August 2020, they broke the record for the most No. 1s ever in the 39-year history of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, scoring its 16th No. 1 hit with "Atlas Falls." Even more recently, Shinedown topped Billboard's “Greatest Of All Time Mainstream Rock Artists” listing, finishing ahead of peers from the last 20 years like THREE DAYS GRACE and DISTURBED, as well as classic rock staples like VAN HALEN and TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS.

This upcoming tour promises to be just as BRILLIANT as the band’s list of accomplishments is long. Depending on where you catch a show, you may also be lucky enough to see The Struts, Ayron Jones, Zero 9:36, or Seether sharing the stage.

Shinedown is currently working on their seventh album with the intention to release it in the latter half of 2021. And only yesterday, the band announced that the ATTENTION ATTENTION FILM is now available for pre-order on iTunes for only $6.99! Release date is September 3, 2021.

Diane DiMemmo is an avid concert fanatic and former musician who snuck cameras into venues for years before entering the pit as a professional photographer. After her first visit to Asbury Park, she immediately fell in love with its music community and recognized the need for a Jersey Shore publication to highlight the accomplishments of local and national musicians through photos and press. Asbury Park Vibes has been her labor of love ever since, along with her Golden Retriever – Cooper – who you’ll often see walking Diane through the streets of Asbury.
