Grin & Bear Chronicle Social Media Pitfalls in Latest Single “70 Times”

April 20, 2021

For many of us, especially during the pandemic, becoming fixated on social media is an all too common trend. For local NJ singer/songwriter Brian Perrino AKA Grin & Bear, this topic is mined into the wonderfully hilarious, yet keenly self-aware, indie-folk anthem “70 Times” featuring support from fellow singer-songwriter Matt Baker. The song and video both examine the addicting yet absorbing nature of social media, but thankfully does so in an organic and understated manner revealing unexpected layers of insight and humanity along the way.

Production-wise, the track benefits from it’s low-key yet vibrant arrangements including a delightfully infectious hook, along with a sincere and engaging vocal performance anchoring the track. “70 Times” is a refreshing and unique track thanks to it’s witty,  introspective lyricism, balanced production and subversive commentary. It results in a strong showcase for Grin &  Bear’s organic, sophisticated talents and is a strong indicator for their upcoming EP release and musical direction.

Be sure to stream “70 Times” and check out the video to the song above! Make sure to give Grin & Bear a follow as well!
