There’s nothing quite like an elegantly crafted ballad to pierce the soul and immerse the listener in a whirlpool of emotions. Local singer-songwriter Caroline Davidson under the alias of Ghost Harbor has added yet another memorable one to the canon with her smoldering and passionate latest single “Tightrope” which showcases a blend of jazzy and cabaret influences along with some richly introspective lyricism to spare. The single follows recently released outings “No Landing” and “Plague Doctors (Bonds)” and showcases a notable progression of Davidson’s understated yet soulful vocal range along with a greater emphasis on craftsmanship and atmosphere that adds a deeper sense of resonance.

The track’s style and influences incorporate elements of Regina Spektor, Tori Amos and Feist but with a contemporary flair and literary perspective all its own. Thematically, the track examines themes of communication, personal relationships and heartache with a sincerity, soul, and maturity that truly allows the themes to come alive. Also, Davidson’s performance is full of raw and intimate moments that manage to establish a connection with the listener. The track is expected off her upcoming EP Whatever Creature You Become which is eyeing a release this year. In the meantime, check out the single on all streaming platforms and be sure to follow Caroline and her latest venue/arts space Ghost Harbor Creative which is hosting a series of livestreams throughout the next few months!
