NYC-based singer-songwriter Max Viner has contributed an electrifying and soulful ALT-pop anthem in the form of “My Dear Friend” his latest single following up last year’s aptly titled “New Normal.” The track is anchored by glistening synth-pop production courtesy of Viner and guitarist Jon Rodney and recorded by Telegraph Hill Records, gains resonance through Viner’s understated yet soulful vocal performance. The track’s unique sonic elements combine aspects of soul, ALT-pop and indie rock and benefits greatly as well from its collaborations.
Local Asbury Park singer-songwriter Taylor Tote contributes a commanding and soulful vocal performance that adds depth to the track. Producer and guitarist Jon Rodney (formerly of Deal Casino) also adds to the proceedings with some energizing and vibrant guitar work that brings texture and grit to the song’s atmosphere. Lyrically as well, “My Dear Friend” manages to be an uplifting and soulful number with songwriting that’s confessional and intimate; the craft here indicates notable progression for Viner as an artist and performer.
